Photo Tips

TIP: When taking pictures with a smart phone, use the 'SQUARE' aspect ratio. Alternatively you can crop your photo to make it square. This will help your pics look their best in the image box.

TIP: Your gear will look its best if it is photographed in its "natural habitat", aka in the outdoors ;). If this is not possible, a solid white background works well. For lightly coloured gear, you might want to try a solid coloured background. Good lighting is also essential.

Multiple images will help your gear sell faster. We'd highly recommend uploading additional photos that show the gear from different angles, or zoom in on cool features.

Setting Your Selling Price

The 'Selling Price' is the price you want to sell your gear for. Customers may contact you to make lower offers on your gear. It is up to you what you choose to sell it at. You can adjust the price of your gear at anytime in your seller portal.

If you want to offer the customer 'FREE shipping', but want to get back some of your shipping costs, you can include some of the shipping price in your selling price. Again, you want to make sure the selling price is still a good deal for buyers.

Rating The Condition Of Your Gear

TIP: It is important to choose an accurate condition, since the buyer must agree to the condition of your gear upon receipt. See our Returns & Buyer Protection Policy for more details.

You have three options for choosing the Condition.

‘NEW’: Your gear has never been worn or used. It might still have the tags on it.
EXCELLENT’: Your gear has been used once or twice or is still ‘like new’.
GOOD’: Your gear is showing a bit of wear, but is still in good shape.

Weighing Your Gear

You can weigh your gear with a bathroom scale, luggage scale or even a food scale for lighter items like shoes. Keep in mind the weight of the packaging you will be using when shipping your gear. The weight of the packaging will be included by your shipping carrier in calculating the shipping cost.

Shipping Set Up

TIP: You can look up rates on Canada Post's website.

Sellers on Never Tracked Out have access to our savings with Canada Post including 5% off shipping costs, 5% off any packaging you purchase, $100 included insurance and expedited shipping for the cost of regular shipping. Just give our account number to Canada Post when shipping your gear. We will send you our account number after you are registered.

You have 3 choices for delivery:

a) Offer Customers FREE Shipping

Enable shipping in your seller portal and set up your shipping ranges based on price or weight. Set your flat rate to $0. Customers will see FREE shipping at check-out and not be charged. Customers love FREE shipping, so this will help sell your gear faster.

b) Charge A Flat Fee

Enable shipping in your selling portal and set up your shipping ranges based on price or weight. Choose a Flat Rate for shipping (ex. $15.00). We will reimburse you this set amount when we pay you for the sale. Customers will see this Flat Rate amount at check-out regardless of where they live in Canada.

c) Local Pick Ups

Alternatively, you can restrict your sale locally and not offer shipping to customers. Just make a note in your gear description that your gear is only available for local pick up. With this option there is no need to enable or set up shipping in your seller portal.

Eco-Friendly Shipping Tips

  Recycling Shipping Boxes

If you ship and receive packages frequently, you may want to reuse and recycle the boxes as much as possible. If you have some boxes on hand, consider the following:

  • Take unused boxes back to the store from which you purchased them; frequently, companies will buy back your boxes or reuse them.

  • Locate a shipping center or box retailer in your area; often large retailers recycle or reuse the boxes for onsite purposes.

  • Take the boxes to your local landfill and ask about cardboard recycling. Most towns have a program in place, even if they don't pick up cardboard at the curb.

  • You can reuse your current boxes by simply turning a box inside out, turning the labels, company logo, and shipping information to the inside. You can now reuse this box with any carrier even if it didn't come from them in the first place.

  • Stop by copy shops, post offices and packaging stores to ask for any used boxes. Take the boxes home for free and turn each one inside out for a reusable product that didn't cost you or the Earth.

Making Your Own Environmentally Friendly Packaging Materials

There are a number of ways to make biodegradable and recyclable packaging items at home. Ideas include:

  • Shred newspaper and magazines - this can be used as protective packaging when sending items through the post or storing things at home. The shredded paper will both biodegrade and can be recycled.

  • Food packaging - instead of using disposable food packaging materials, consider using cleaned packaging from other food items. Clean ice cream tubs, for instance, have a variety of uses and reusing them in the home keeps the waste from landfills.

  • Reusable gift packaging - consider presenting gifts in a fabric bag which could later be used as a shopping bag.

  • Keep packaging to use again - for instance, keep large cardboard boxes or other containers for reuse. This is helpful to the environment as well as being a good way to save money.

Your Listing Is Approved - Now What?

You will receive a confirmation email that your gear listing has been approved.

Now, sit back and wait for a buyer to ask a question, submit an offer or purchase your gear!

If your gear is not selling as fast as you'd like it to, you might want to decrease your selling price.

Local Pick Ups

If the customer is in your area and has chosen local pick up instead of shipping, you can arrange an exchange directly with the customer.

Shipping Your Gear

Sellers on Never Tracked Out have access to our savings with Canada Post including 5% off shipping costs, 5% off any packaging you purchase, $100 included insurance and expedited shipping for the cost of regular shipping. Just give our account number to Canada Post when shipping your gear. We will send you our account number after you are registered.

Important: Remember to get a TRACKING NUMBER after you ship the order. This is your ticket to getting paid.

You can fulfill the order and enter the tracking number in your seller portal under "My Gear Sales" link on the side menu bar.

The tracking number allows us to see when the buyer receives your gear, so we know when to pay you. Review the Returns & Buyer Protection Policy for details about their approval process. Payments are remitted to sellers within 1 business day of the buyer's approval.

Make sure to package your gear in a way that it stays protected during its shipping journey. For clothing or small non-breakable items, you can use a padded envelope. For larger items, include padding in the box such as scrunched up paper to secure the position of your gear in the packaging.

Getting Paid

We will remit payment to you within 1 business day after the buyer's verification time of the order has expired with no complaints about the condition of your gear. See Returns & Buyer Protection Policy for more information.

You can choose to receive payment via PayPal or E-Transfer. By default, we will use E-Transfer. Please let us know if you'd prefer PayPal.
